Portrait of Gary ParkinsonHello.

That's me on the left. I'm bigger now, but I still have a thing about cowboys.

I've written two completed novels, 'Goodbye to Luv' and 'The Land O' Cakes', hundreds of short stories, about nine unfinished novels (to date), some sitcom pilots, a script for an animation project, a couple of short plays, a hundred or so songs, some radio ads for diarrhoea, and a stiff letter to the Radio Times. None have been published. But, you know, you have to fill the desperate, gaping emptiness with something, don't you?

Actually, 'The Land O' Cakes' got onto a shortlist of five out of very many in the Crocus first novel competition; and I've had my work on at the Contact Theatre and at the Royal Exchange Theatre, both in Manchester. And I'm editor and designer of 'Multi-Storey', a magazine for new writing and art, currently in its fifth year (www.multi-storey.net). And my erstwhile band, Frankly… have performed at The Late Room and the prestigious Whalley Range Festival, to name just two.

Right. That's enough blowing my own trumpet: I much prefer having it blown for me.

Read my story, why dontcha? It's called Through the Vast Unknown. It's got Hobnobs in it, for anybody of a nervous disposition.
