Philip Caveney was born in North Wales in 1951. Until a few years ago, he was writing horror/thriller novels for Headline books, including Speak no Evil, Skin Flicks and Strip Jack Naked. Then it all went horribly wrong.
His latest bid for world domination centres on stories for children.
The Sebastian Darke books follow an unsuccessful jester, a pint-size warrior and a talkative and rather self-opinionated buffalope round a simple world of brigands, princesses, pirates, unfriendly animals, magic and the occasional battle.
And coming up behind is a new series featuring boy archaeologist Alec Devlin, who falls into unsought adventures in exotic parts of the 1920s world. Again, his sidekicks are an important part of the formula - an unflappable English butler and a rather casual American trouble-shooter.
